The Fellowship of the Ring will be there too, although their part (especially Frodo's) will be much less than the armies.Throughout the walkthrough will be general tips, which will be aided by more specific advice.

This walkthrough was written under Medium difficulty, so you may have to adjust tactics and timing depending on your own choice.Seperate User: I Am Also A BIG Fan Of This Game, So I'll Add My Comments To The End Of Each Mission Just To Help Contribute.
The campaign starts off in the caves of Moria, which happened around halfway through the first movie, after the Fellowship was already established.Mission 1: The Caves of MoriaThe nine members of the Fellowship must get through the Caves of Moria on their way to Mordor. All nine must survive the trip, and they will not have any allies along the way. This stage is a good introduction to the mechanics and controls of the game, but does not teach things such as building structures or creating units. This stage plays out more like a dungeon hack RPG like Dungeon Siege, so I'll treat it as such.Okay, the basic goal of this one is to get from point A to point B. Once the mission loads, the first thing you should do is review your mission objectives by clicking the blue flag over the mini-map. You've got six objectives, three of which are optional. Unless you're playing for score, don't stress about them.
To be honest, the bonus objectives in most missions are extremely easy to fulfill. The important one for this mission is that all nine members of the Fellowship must survive. The easiest way to do that is to plan ahead of time, and assign everyone a team.
Assign teams by selecting who you want in it, holding CTRL, and pressing a number on the key row. You can then recall the team simply by pressing the same number. Any veteran of RTS games knows about the grouping system, of course, and it's the key to success in a lot of these missions. You probably won't be making more than four or five teams in the campaign, though. The four hobbits—Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippen—are fairly weak.
Assign them to Team 3. Gandalf, Aragorn, Gimli, and Boromir are the bodyguards who will do most of the fighting, so assign them to Team 1. Legolas is very strong and will act as the scout, so assign only him to Team 2.One of your bonus objectives is to purchase a power. You already have a power point, shown by the number 1 on the Evenstar, the icon between the key (for system options) and flag (for mission objectives) above the mini-map.
Purchase the Heal power, which will take your only point away but will give you one more edge to help you survive. All the heroes auto-heal, but they do so slowly and you may get into trouble if you're not careful. With Heal in hand, save if you desire, and start by sending Legolas forward. You'll soon see a flag called Veterancy Upgrade. That will automatically level up the first hero who touches it.
Cherish these, because you're not going to find any outside this stage. Legolas needs to take it, because he's going to be doing most of the work here. After getting it, send him on. Once you see an enemy, engage them with Legolas to make a preemptive strike. Then, call Team 1 and bring them forward to help out. Once the threat is clear, bring up Team 2, then send Legolas forward again. Basically you just need to leapfrog like this all the way through the map, with a couple exceptions. After crossing a bridge, you'll see another Veterancy Upgrade. Level up Gandalf, because he'll be in a tough fight at the end, so he'll need to get some help early.
Keep going, and eventually you'll come to a fork in the caves. Leave the hobbits at the intersection, and take a left turn with Legolas and Team 1.
There's a few strong enemies there guarding another Veterancy Upgrade. Who you choose to upgrade is your choice, but Aragorn is recommended because putting him at Level 2 will give him access to a power called Blade Master. That will come in handy very shortly, so don't activate the power yet.Keep going in the original direction. In the next room, you'll be jumped by a bunch of goblins. Send in Legolas first, followed by Team 1.
Once engaged, bring Team 3 up to help. The strong ones should be drawing attacks, so the hobbits will avoid being killed.
Once it's clear, leave the hobbits in the room and take the left fork again with Legolas in the lead. Another Veterancy Upgrade will be your reward, so level up either Boromir or Gimli. Return to the hobbits, save it, then send everybody (by hitting Q) into the next room together. After the cutscene, you'll be jumped from behind by goblins.
The hobbits will have to help out, but try to have the others take the damage. Do NOT use any powers during the first few waves, because the goblins are fairly weak.
Eventually a cave troll will pop up and cause some grief; THAT is when you need to think about powers. Have Gimli use his Leap Attack if he can, and have Gandalf use his Lightning Sword. For both, you'll have to click the hero, then click the power, then right-click the area you want them to use it on. Try to envelop as many enemies as you can, but be sure to get the cave troll.Once that wave is clear, you're not out of the woods. A few more goblins and a couple cave trolls will come from a section of the wall.
Have Legolas bring out his knives, put Aragorn in Blade Master mode, have Boromir use his stun power, and let Gandalf fire his Wizard Blasts. With all the extra power, you should be able to slice up the trolls in no time. After it's all clear, gather everyone in as small an area as you can. Heal them if you haven't already, then save it. Send everyone through the gap in the wall, and you'll engage another wave of goblins. After that, continue on with the leapfrog strategy you had been doing to that point.
You'll find another cave troll eventually, but he's a pushover. You'll get another Veterancy Upgrade here; spend it on Gandalf. Also, by now you should have another power point at your disposal.
Use it to buy the Elven Gifts power, which gives all heroes an automatic (and free) damage boost.Leapfrog forward as you have been. You'll be ambushed by a bunch of goblin archers, which only Legolas can attack, but he can absorb all damage they do. A few ground goblins will attack also, so send in anyone who hasn't hit level 2 yet (if anyone hasn't, it's probably one of the hobbits). Now there are no more minor enemies, so send everyone forward together. When you reach a rocky plateau, everyone but Gandalf will run off and cross the bridge, leaving him to deal with a Balrog alone. The Balrog is extremely strong, so you'll need to use Gandalf's powers to survive. Use his Lightning Sword, then run around until it charges back up. Use your Heal power if you need to, and just repeat, repeat, repeat until the Balrog goes down.Fairly Easy Mission, A Bit Hard If You're New To RTS/RPG Games.
May I Just Point Out That When You Hit The Balrog With Lightning Sword It Lags Your Game SO MUCH!!!Mission 2: Westfold Now the game proper begins. You get command of Eomer's army, which is not much at the moment, but that will change. Click them, and you have three different places you can head to. You can see what bonuses you get if you finish out the different missions: Westfold gets you an additional 10% resources, Rohan gives you 20 more command points (for commanding more troops), and Eastern Rohan will net you another power point.
While the specific one is up to you, it's recommended that you first head to Westfold to get that resource bonus. You start out by a Camp with one hero (Eomer) and a handful of cav units. There is very little resistance in this area, comprising of a handful of enemy battalions and a few lumber camps.
No additional troops will be created here and you will not be rushed, giving you a lot of time to practice how to start missions.Begin by sending your entire army to the front of your Camp to serve as guards. You should build two farms by clicking the larger circles with trees in them (called Foundations), then selecting the farm icon in the wheel menu that pops up.
The smaller Foundations are for sentry towers, but you won't be building those quite yet. Once you have 350 resources (which won't take too long once you have two farms up), build a third one. This process of your first three farms is called getting your economy established. You need to do this at the beginning of damn near every mission if you hope to succeed.
The earlier you start getting resources, the more you'll have in the long run, and the quicker you can replace troops if or when you lose them. One of the bonus objectives here is making six farms. What it doesn't tell you is that, once you have six farms built, you can demolish them and STILL have the objective cleared. Be patient and gather your resources until you have all six farms up, then demolish two of them. Because of the unit carry over, and the imbalance leaning to the power of archers, build an archery range now to start getting together some strong battalions early. Spit out a battalion or two of archers as soon as you can.
Also build a stable to replace any horse battalions that get lost.Once your army is full, build a sentry tower on every possible Foundation. After that, have the army run from your Camp to the bottom-left corner. Use the Attack-Move command: select your army with Q, then press A to put the cursor in Attack-Move mode, and then right-click the destination. Let your guys find their own way there. They'll hit everything they see, and you probably won't lose anyone in the process. If you do lose some horses, replace them with more horses.
There enemy will have nothing aside from foot soldiers in this match, so don't completely pack your army with archers or you won't get anywhere.Along the way, you'll encounter your first enemy lumber mill. Destroy it, and it will leave a small flag. This camping spot (also called a Settlement) can create a single resource collector building for a cheaper price than usual.
This plays into Basic Tip 6: the farm serves as something for your enemies to attack besides your main base. Don't bother defending it unless you really want to. Simply station a battalion there for about 10 seconds, and then you control it. Click it and choose the farm icon, then send the battalion back with the main army if you had them part. After getting the farm started, head directly south from it. If you managed to get there quickly enough, you'll see another Settlement, this one with two crossed flags. This one is more powerful, as you can build an Outpost. It's like a smaller version of your Camp: you get three large Foundations for standard buildings, but no smaller Foundations for defense.
If you took a little too long getting there, the enemy may have control of it. Take it from them by force. Once it's clear, have a battalion around it like you did for the other Settlement. It will take a little longer, but once it becomes yours, you can build a new Camp.
Build a farm or two, maybe an archery range so you can replace units faster, and then go on.Once you get to the top-left corner, you'll get your first experience with pikemen, who are guarding the main enemy Camp. These guys will absolutely destroy your cav units, and will seriously hurt Eomer. One strategy is to get your archers some distance away, run with your cav units to draw the pikemen, then lead them to the ambush. Your archers will cut them to pieces, freeing your cav units to go crush any remaining units.
Have the entire army take out the Camp, and the Settlement is yours. This one allows you to make a new Camp, so do so.That may not end the match though. The victory objective is to capture all enemy Camp, which includes Outposts as well.
Take your army and sweep the whole map to look for more Outposts and so on. Once you destroy all buildings, you'll win the match.Good To Help Get You Started On Unit Creation And Replacing Dead Soldiers.Mission 3: LothlorienYou already know the basics from the last two missions, so the mission walkthroughs will be fairly short from now on.You'll have control of the Fellowship again for this one. The match starts with all nine getting jumped from the north, but some elven warriors will come up and help you. Take them all into the city proper, and you'll get a ton of allies in the process; don't bother leapfrogging this time. Just select the whole army and use one Attack-Move command to get them there. The elven warriors are really cool in that they have two weapons. They default to bows, but can switch to knives on your command.
What's even cooler is that, unlike Legolas, they can have their weapons out as long as you want them too. They can switch freely anytime between them without having any timers to worry about. The only downside is that they're not really THAT much stronger with the blades.Once you reach the city, quickly have the Fellowship spread out and grab all the treasure chests you see. That will get you some free resources, which is important because you're not going to build any farms. In fact, you can't build anything aside from a couple barracks. But do so, because you're about to be assaulted. There are three bridges surrounding the city. Build two barracks and start pumping out as many warriors as you can.
You'll hear a bridge called out when a wave of enemies comes: either west, northwest, or northeast. As soon as you hear which bridge is going to be hit, hit Q and send the whole army over to that bridge, including the Fellowship.During all these defenses, don't ignore the bonus objective, which is to take out the enemy lumber camps. Take one or two battalions of elven warriors and have them sweep the perimeter of the map to find and destroy them all.BEST MISSION EVER!!!
ELVES FTW!!!!!!!!! Mission 4: Rohan You're back to commanding Eomer's army now. This mission is extremely basic, in that you simply need to destroy everyone. You'll have another Camp at your disposal, so begin by building your first two farms, and then a third.
As you do, you may notice that a new, sixth building is available to you to build, provided you have funds. This building is the Armory, and it's your key to dominating the game.
It's expensive though, so don't worry about it just yet.Put down a fourth and fifth farm when you can, and an archery range. A bonus objective is to garrison some ruined towers with archers, but be careful. Once a battalion is garrisoned, it cannot be ungarrisoned. However, you'll get the command points back because the battalion is removed. Still, you should not use a veteran battalion because then it will not carry over to the next mission. Think of it as sacrificing a new battalion to 'turn on' the tower to defend you.Once you have 1400 in resources, destroy one of the farms and build the armory. You can buy three upgrades here to strengthen your forces, two of which will help archers.
Probably the most important upgrade of three for now is the Banner Carrier upgrade, which works for all units. This can only be activated when a battalion is at level 1, but it gives the battalion an experience level for a price.
That essentially means you can create a unit and immediately make a level 2 veteran, allowing you to carry it over to the next stage. Of course, leveling up a battalion gives it more life and strength anyway, so there's no reason not to.Heavy Armor is the other important upgrade, and that works with all types of units too. It adds a sizable defense bonus against all attacks. In conjunction with the Banner Carrier upgrade, you can turn a rookie battalion into a pretty strong force (at least one that won't be ripped to shreds by a level 1 enemy).
The final upgrade is adds power to your cav units, but you shouldn't be making any new ones here anyway, so it should be your last upgrade.Once your three upgrades are purchased and finished from the Armory, destroy the Armory and replace it with a farm again. You don't need to keep the Armory in your Camp to buy the upgrades for battalions, and you need every spare resource you can get (all those upgrades to battalions can get pretty expensive).Build your army (you'll have more command points after your victory in Lothlorien), level them up completely, then take the fight to the enemy. Remember to sweep the map, and take every Settlement you see to stop the enemy from getting it.
With your leveled up force, you shouldn't have a problem clearing this one quickly.Peasants Are Really OP. I Destroyed Their Camp With Peasants While My Rohirrim Sat Back And RelaxedMission 5: Amon HenYou're back with the Fellowship, but not all of them. You'll start out off on a plateau with Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, and Gandalf. A handful of Isengard forces will jump you, but it's nothing you can't handle. A second wave will then hit, and it will be slightly larger; put Aragorn in Blade Master mode and have Gandalf do whatever you need him to do to cover his side. Sam can help out Gandalf if needed and Frodo can help Aragorn, but try to keep the hobbits out of battles if you can. After that, Legolas and Gimli will appear to the north dealing with their own waves. (Legolas even busts out a move you won't have access to for awhile.) Send Aragorn and Gandalf to assist, but keep Frodo and Sam back and have them use their Elven Cloaks.Once it's clear, send your attackers east.
You'll get an alert that Boromir, Merry, and Pippen are in trouble. Merry and Pippen will book it, so you won't have to worry about them. Boromir is active though, and if you can rescue him, you'll be able to use him in later stages. His survival is not required, however, so don't do anything suicidal to get to him.Once you secure the area, whether Boromir survives or not, you'll be told to secure a boat for Frodo and Sam.
Send everyone else over there with an Attack-Move, then sweep the area around the boat to make absolutely sure it's clear. Then, simply order the hobbits to head over to the boat, and you're done.Very Fun To Try And Save Boromir, I Reccomend You Do Because At LV7 He Gets Captain Of Gondor Have Faramir And Boromir Use It At The Same Time To Level Up Your Army A TON.
